The University of the Third Age (u3a) movement is a Worldwide organisation and in Thetford provides, activities and opportunities for retired and semi-retired people. Members come together and learn together, not for qualifications but for the sheer joy of discovery!
In the UK, there are more than 1000 local u3a groups and Thetford u3a has around 400 members from communities in and around Thetford. We did consider calling it “Brecks u3a” as the area covered is more or less The Brecks in South West Norfolk.
Thetford u3a started in 2014 and is going from strength to strength. It is a registered charity and is wholly dependent upon volunteers. We have monthly meetings at the Church On The Way on the fourth Thursday of each month 1:30pm for 2pm start. Meetings are free for members to attend. Most meetings are also open to non-members for a donation of £2, so anyone can come along to find out more.
